Finally got some snow!

It was so nice to finally get some real snow for the first time in years! I was like a little kid last night, I kept waking up and checking outside to see how much snow had fallen and everytime I checked, there was a little more. We got about 4", not too much and not too little. I got up at the crack of dawn, got dressed, grabbed my camera and went outside to take photos.

The snow was wet so it weighed down the tree branches and I thought I would stand behind the branches and get some photos. I was so happy my camera was cooperating with the closeups.

And of course, I had to get a photo of a cardinal, he showed up almost in the same place as the last photo I got of one when we had our dusting of snow some weeks ago. I felt so bad for the birds, there was so much snow on the branches that they would try to land on one and they didn't have anything to grab on too. I also got a photo of a little squirrel in the trees who did not seem to have a problem grabbing onto the branches, I even think he stopped to pose for the camera for me!

The snow is not going anywhere for a few days as the temps are going to stay in the 30's for a few days and it is supposed to get into the low teen's the next few nights. I wish I could get down the property and get some photos of the house in the snow and the lake (I can imagine the water surrounded by snow covered trees - it must be so beautiful!) but it is 25 miles away and with all the ice and snow on the roads, I think I am snowed in for a few days, I don't drive in this stuff. Terry will head down that way later though as he has a truck but he will probably end up staying the night (that's why I am not going with him) in his shop that he has been working on. It is completely insulated and he has a wood stove and once he gets a good fire going, it actually gets real hot in there. He can't work on the house until it warms up some so he is trying to get his shop organized.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week thanks for stopping by!

Oh Annette, that is my favorite kind of snow...the wet kind that sticks to everything and makes great snowballs! We had a couple of inches but it has already melted. Beautiful photos.

Wow, Annette! You really got some beautiful photos. This time, you guys got more snow than we did. Although, it is actually still snowing here right now. Fairly heavy at the moment. But my driveway and the roads are clear. I hope I can get some more photos in a bit. You've inspired me to go get some close-ups.
Enjoy it! Stay snug and toasty!

I think the snow is beautiful, glad you finally got to get out and play in it!!!! We seem to have had more "winter" this year. My dad always said if March came in like a lion it'd go out like a lamb ( maybe we'll have an early spring).

I am so glad you got your snow finally! (and that we DID NOT) Did you go out and make a snow kitty? It looks like good packing snow. I'm hoping we get the 60 degree temps here tomorrow that they are predicting...yippee!

These pictures are great! How did you get the wildlife to come around and pose for you? :) It's going to be in the 70's this weekend... crazy NC weather!

Hi Annette! This is my first visit to your blog. Love the photos of the snow. I live in Asheville and we had about 7 inches. Wish I had taken the time to get some pics. Hope you have a great day!
