Happy New Year!

I can't believe another year has come and gone! Now the challenge is to remember to write 2013 on my checks - LOL! We had a visitor on Christmas Eve day at the front gate, an emaciptated dog. It was worse than the ones you see on the TV commercial, you know - the one where you have to switch the channel because it is so sad. I put our other dogs up and then gave it some dry dog food through the fence, the poor little dog couldn't eat fast enough. It was a medium size short hair female dog and looked to be about 6 months old, kind of hard to tell as it was just bones covered with skin, I have never seen anything like it. It broke my heart and brought me to tears that someone could be so cruel to an animal and just dump it off somewhere. I called Terry who was about 30 minutes away picking up a country ham he had ordered for his parents. I asked him if he would call his friends who own a store about 5 miles from us that has kennels in the back of it with rescued dogs. The problem is they usually don't take dogs because they are always full. I was so happy when he called back and they said they would take the dog, yay! While I waited for Terry to come back to pick up the dog I got a collar and leash and brought it inside the fence as I didn't want it to run away. The collar was on the smallest hole and it slid right over her head with lots of extra room. (I dont think it was going to leave it's food source though but didn't want to take a chance.) I also gave it a can of wet dog food, boy was she happy to be eating! My day was 100 times better when Terry drove away with this sweet little dog, I was so happy we had a chance to save her, what a great Christmas gift! Terry went to visit the dog (I call her Eve because she was rescued on Christmas Eve) yesterday and he said you wouldn't even recognize her. She was fat and looked like a different dog and also there was someone interested in adopting her! If only we could rescue all the stray animals and find homes for them! I have some shabby cards to share. On this first card I made a canvas and fabric envelope and created a tag for the pocket.
I used Papertrey Ink dies on this card.
A couple shabby Valentines.
Created some Cupid Valentine Tags. The cupids were originally gold and I painted them to give them a different look.
And lastly a birthday card.
Have a bit of good news to share. After being together 12 years, Terry and I got married on 12/12/12! We eloped, it was very low key, just the two of us on a rainy day at the county jail with two cops as our witnesses! I was not planning on getting married at the jail but that's where the magistrate was so if I wanted 12/12/12 as anniversary date that is where it had to be. No complaints though, I married my best friend and that's all that mattered! So happy to start 2013 with my new husband! Now I just have to get used to saying husband instead of boyfriend! Have a lovely weekend! Annette

God bless you for saving that little dog! And Terry. And the people who took her in. We have a rescued puppy...we love her so much. There are cruel people in this world - it's a sin what they do to animals.

YOu did such a wonderful thing helpoing little Eve out...she will be thanking you for the rest of her years that you cared enough to help her...I too am that way and help in aevery way I can...soft spot on my heart I guess.

Your creations are just beautiful and so inspiring. Although I have aquestion about your glittered angels...do they come that way or do you glitter them? If so who are they by or what glitter do you use?

Have a great Day!

Annette, I am smitten. Your cards and blog writing style are wonderful. First things first - congratulations on your 12-12-12 wedding date! how fun after being together 12 years. What a nice way to spend an anniversary. It doesn't matter where one gets married - we were married at a realtor's office LOL and that was 37 years ago. Now, back to your amazingly creative card art. I am totally in love with your style. Would LOVE to learn from you and am becoming your newest follower. Thank you for a lovely morning, browsing your blog and getting all kinds of ideas. Thanks for sharing, too, your incredible artwork!

Your cards are great! I love so much the envelope and the flowers card! These are some of the main themes in my cards, too. I suppose I can make the same flowers also with some circle dies, even if they wouldn't be as perfect as yours.
Thank you for sharing your creations!
