Here are some projects I've been working on. My sweet friend Angela sent me some photos of her precious daughter modeling the hat and scarf I made her for Christmas so I decided to do a scrapbook page. I have not scrapbooked in a long time so this was definetely something different for me. I wanted it to be pink, to match the hat and scarf and also, it is Kayley's favorite color. I made the round flowers out of felt and did a quick handstitch with embroidery thread around each one, then put a pom pom in the middle. For the background, I drew a circle and ripped it apart in strips, then sewed some ribbon on each one, ruffling as I sewed, hoping to give it a shabby look. I think the page looks much better in person than the photo, it's gloomy and cloudy today and I couldn't get the right lighting.

(you can see the details better if you click on the photo and enlarge it)
These next two cards came together pretty easy for me and are probably the quickest cards I've made in awhile. I used My Mind's Eye Irresistible collection, some Heidi Swapp chipboard and Melissa Frances rub-ons.

I'm loving Vintage for Valentine's Day and look forward to creating more. I used the negative part cut from chipboard of a sizzix die for the front of this card, covered with paper, distressed with acrylic paint then brushed a stain on it and wiped off to give it an aged look. I distressed the clipart with some ink before attaching to the back piece, then applied a layer of mod podge over it, then glued the two pieces togeter and sewed around the edges. The roses in the corner got a "coffee dunk" and a little walnut ink.

One of my favorite movies is on today, An Officer and a Gentlemen. When I lived in Bremerton, WA, we used to go to Port Townsend to the same base where this movie was filmed. It hasn't been a working base for years but it is open to the public. It brings back such fond memories of our visits there and my love of Washington state. We used to stand on top of the bunker where it showed Richard Gere doing pushups, the view of the ocean is spectacular!
If I don't post again before 2009, I wish all of you a very Happy New Year and I'll see you all next year!

As always your creations amaze me. All that detailing, and I'm still learning what the words mean. You seem to be far from home, I could detect just a hint of homesickness in that description of Washington. Happy New Year!!!
Annette, your work is so beautiful! I love your layout...it is just stunning and your cards are adorable!
Wishing you a great 2009!

Gorgeous creations Annette! Love them all. I'm sitting here chuckling at your so called "quick" creations, looks to me like they all took awhile to make! All so beautiful!
Love the scrapbook LO! (and you are right to suggest clicking on it to see the detail as you miss the texture and stitching on the background paper otherwise) The cards are perfect and the valentine tag is just adorable!
My brother-in-law was the Commanding Officer of Top Gun (for real) and flew those F-18's! We love the movie too but real Navy pilots pick apart the flying scenes when they watch it! Ha ha!
Thanks Annette!! I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and have a terrific New year!!! Your right....I love Christmas cards....but I'm ready for Valentines!!!
Oooh, that last vintage card is really standing out in my mind as I type this, Annette! LOVE that to pieces. Vintage stuff always makes me happy! ;) Your other Valentine's cards are adorable, too. Always, always love the stitching you add to your projects. And how fun to see a scrapbook page from you. what a beautiful and unique design.
Hope you have a wonderful New Year's!
